The project

Wastewater harvesting and treatment.

Chimborazo

The Chimborazo: a volcano at 6,263 meters. This is the highest point in Ecuador.

Our goals

The aim of our project is to harvest and treat wastewater from the El Tejar community in the Chimborazo province of Ecuador.
Being an area where it does not rain much, it is essential to manage water resources well. Therefore, one of the objectives of the project will be to sensitize the community to water management issues, including the need to make better use of natural resources in general, but especially, the need to protect water resources. We work in collaboration with the Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo and the Pastoral Social Cáritas Riobamba.

Our motivation

We are aware that we are facing a water crisis, and that water is a key element for development. We believe that equitable access to clean water is central to the proper development of societies and communities.
Thus, the goal is clear: and while this is for us a scientific learning experience, it is above all about the human dimension. The project will be about mutual help – we will support the local population but also learn from them - and this is what will motivate our team in what we believe will be a very inspiring experience.
